History
Family owned and operated for 20 years, we’re more than a cranberry grower, harvester, or processor. We’re all three!
In 1987, the Urban family began growing cranberries in Central Wisconsin. Today, Dan & Cheryl Urban continue to grow and harvest cranberries on their now 71 acre cranberry marsh.
Declining markets in the late 1990’s led the family to consider new uses for cranberries. Our cranberry processing business began in 2001 with the construction of a 38,000 sq. foot processing plant and laboratory facility. From its humble beginnings of providing sweetened dried cranberries to local friends and families, our family business has grown into a worldwide supplier of Urban Best Sweetened Dried Cranberries. Through the use of patented technology in the processing plant and a commitment to high quality control standards, Urban Best Sweetened Dried Cranberries have earned the reputation of being one of the best tasting products in the cranberry industry.
The most recent expansion of our cranberry processing business has been in the area of gourmet foods. We have introduced 13 new cranberry products in addition to a book of cranberry recipes, and a cranberry seed soap.
But this is only the beginning of the story for the Urban family and Urban Best cranberry Products. Our processing plant and cold storage facility is currently under expansion, and by 2006 will encompass 150,000 sq. ft and provide employment for over 35 people in our local community.
